Welcome to Five Go Caravanning
Hello there - Welcome to the adventures of our family as we turn from a family of 4 into 5 and embark on our caravanning adventures.
So who are we?
A very 'normal' family from the North-West. We are Dad, Mum, M (aged 8), V (aged 4) and Baby T who will be just under 6 weeks old on our first excursion as a family of 5. Eek!
How did we get into this caravanning lark?
God knows! If anyone would have told me 4 years ago that we would own a touring caravan and love it, I would have said Get Lost! I was previously a Radisson type of girl with my expensive toiletries, hairdryer and swimming pool. OH has developed an enjoyment for surfing though and we were booking hotels rooms for Saturday nights to be near to the surf. A friend of ours had acquired a tourer from someone who had won it on The Price is Right (yes that really does happen!) and needed to get rid of it - the van had only been used twice and was immaculate.
What type of van have we got?
An Elddis Avante 6 berth (we won't be filling the 6th berth!) with a fixed bunk at the back and a bed that we make up at the front for us grown-ups - We are going to have to work a plan out pretty quickly for where to put the moses basket for Baby T!
Where do we go?
We vary between The Lake District at the beginning and end of the season and Wales in the middle (for the surf naturally!). Our major trip per year though is to the South of France via the ferry to Santander.
We do intend on exploring new ventures though - follow our journeys as we discover The Gower and Yorkshire to name just a couple.
What will this blog cover?
The highs and the lows of family trips away - The people we meet and the places we visit. We experiment with the food that we cook - there is nothing more satisfying than a meal prepared either outside or in the tiniest kitchen you can imagine. The blog will also look at the gadgets that we encounter on our travels - some may be a godsend, some less so!
If you happen to stop by, please say hello and let me know you are reading - comments are always welcome as are suggestions for places to go and dishes to cook!
